Hi, I'm Brett Gregory, Serious Feather's founder and creative director.

Based in Greater Manchester in the UK, Serious Feather is a multi-award-winning independent production house which, for over 20 years, has excelled at digital film and video, print media and podcasting.

Of course, we're always searching to collaborate with organisations, businesses and individuals, nationally and internationally, who are also striving to be the best they can be in their chosen field.

If you browse through the Serious Feather website, you'll find the areas of interest that matter to us the most: film, media, culture, politics, academia, education, community and social justice.

Subsequently, if you have any enquiries, you can email me at [email protected].

With regards to personal background, I was raised on a working-class council estate situated in a former mining town in Nottinghamshire throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

I have a BA (Hons) degree in Creative Writing, an MA degree in English Literature and Cinema (specialising in narratology), and a PGCE teaching degree in Further and Higher Education.

From 2004 to 2019 I taught Film and Cultural Studies, Film and Media Production, as well as in English Literature, Creative Writing, Citizenship Studies and Academic Research Skills at various colleges and education institutions throughout the north west of England.

As a Creative Director, I've also written, directed, edited and produced over 50 independent film productions since 2005 and, in turn, marketed, promoted and exhibited a number of these to cinema audiences over the years, often accompanied by appearances for media outlets such as Prospect and Jacobin.

As well as numerous music videos and commercial promos, my filmography includes the music documentaries 'Iceland: Beyond Sigur Rós' (short, 2010), 'Manchester: Beyond Oasis' (feature, 2012) and 'Liverpool: Beyond The Beatles' (feature, 2015); my multi-award winning debut feature film, 'Nobody Loves You and You Don't Deserve to Exist' (2022); and, more recently, my award-winning short film adaptation of Franz Kafka's classic parable from 1915, 'Before the Law'.

Indeed, my production work was recognised by the Houses of Parliament in 2009 with an Early Day Motion commending my efforts to raise issues related to teenage knife and gun crime.

Moreover, I've just completed work on 'Autism and the Arts: Poetry with Peter Street' (2025), a 40 minute documentary which explores the remarkable life of the 76 year old autistic poet and memoirist in the north west of England.

You can find my selected filmography here.

Furthermore, I've been working as a freelance journalist since 2022, writing articles and reviews which have been published nationally and internationally by The Morning Star, Culture Matters, Counterfire, and WBAI Radio in New York.

Finally, as the host and editor of the Serious Feather Arts podcast since 2023, I interview leading academics and authors about their latest publications, research projects and productions.

You can find these interviews, reviews and articles here.
