Serious Feather 'Behind the Scenes' is a new YouTube channel which I set up in the summer of 2025 in order to curate, preserve and share a variety of movie documentaries and commentaries which are now hard to come by due to the dominance of the streaming industry.
They are sourced from the 'Extras', 'Bonus Material' or 'Special Features' which accompany DVD releases and, I believe, are of great value to not only film fans and cinephiles, but also to film students, film academics and film historians, as well as directors, producers, editors, composers, designers, actors etc.
Due a range of YouTube policies I have to re-edit and re-dub each documentary or commentary accordingly. Depending on the duration and the original edit, this usually takes between 5 to 12 hours at a time.

Brett Gregory
So I'm Brett Gregory, and I'm Serious Feather's Creative Director.
Based in Greater Manchester in the UK, Serious Feather is a multi-award-winning independent production company which, for over 20 years, has excelled at digital film and video, print media and podcasting.
My duties include: writing, directing, producing, editing, promotion and, sadly, admin.
My selected filmography can be viewed here.
With regards to personal background, I was raised on a working-class council estate situated in a former mining town in Nottinghamshire throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
I have a BA (Hons) degree in Creative Writing, an MA degree in English Literature and Cinema (specialising in narratology), and a PGCE teaching degree in Further and Higher Education.
From 2004 to 2019 I taught Film and Cultural Studies, Film and Media Production, as well as in English Literature, Creative Writing, Citizenship Studies and Academic Research Skills at various colleges and education institutions throughout the north west of England.
As a Creative Director, I've also written, directed, edited and produced over 30 independent film productions since 2005 and, in turn, marketed, promoted and exhibited a number of these to cinema audiences over the years, often accompanied by appearances for international media outlets such as Prospect and Jacobin.
As well as numerous music videos and commercial promos, my filmography includes the music documentaries 'Iceland: Beyond Sigur Rós' (2010), 'Manchester: Beyond Oasis' (2012) and 'Liverpool: Beyond The Beatles' (2015); my multi-award winning debut feature film, 'Nobody Loves You and You Don't Deserve to Exist' (2022); and, more recently, my award-winning short film adaptation of Franz Kafka's classic parable from 1915, 'Before the Law'.
Indeed, my filmmaking was recognised by the Houses of Parliament in 2009 with an Early Day Motion.
Moreover, I've recently completed work on 'Autism and the Arts: Poetry with Peter Street' (2025), a 40 minute documentary which explores the remarkable life of the 76 year old autistic poet and memoirist in the north west of England.
Furthermore, I've been working as a freelance writer since 2022, writing articles and reviews about independent films and film publications which have been published nationally and internationally by The Morning Star, Culture Matters, Counterfire, and WBAI Radio in New York.
In turn, as the host and editor of the Serious Feather Arts podcast since 2023, I've interviewed leading film/media academics and authors about their latest publications, research projects and productions.
